Bio
I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on November 22,1988. I love green chili being from New Mexico. I played football and baseball in High school. I was drafted by the LA Angels in 2007. I played my rookie season, and I had some struggles and didn't play as well as I should. Came back in spring training 2008 improved and made the Low A team, but broke my Hamate bone the morning of the first game. I had surgery and recovered, but I was released. I was released and allowed to go back to college to an NAIA school. I chose Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock Texas. I played at LCU and had a wonderful career. At Lcu I met my Wife Kim. We dated for 6 yrs before getting married on June 28th of this year. After baseball, I needed something to fulfill my competitive drive, I found Crossfit. Since June 2012 I haven't stopped. My pursuit of perfecting imperfections and making the games has become relentless. After I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice I chose to pursue my Paramedic Certification. That process was two more years of school. I am currently a Paramedic for UMC EMS here in Lubbock. My wife is currently attending school for PTA and plans to bridge to a Physical Therapist. We still Live in Lubbock and still have an unknown future. At this time we will enjoy married life free of kids until we are ready.

How I Train
Zack Barnard, my strength and conditioning trainer from LCU baseball introduced me to Crossfit. He programmed for me from 2012 to 2014 regionals. One of the most creative and difficult workouts I have ever done. Mixture of Crossfit and strongman workouts were consistent. Pushing and pulling cars Farmers walks tire flips were the type of workouts we would do to prepare for baseball. May 2014 I started to follow Ben Bergeron's program CompTrain. I still currently follow CompTrain with added squat cycles here and there because that is a weakness I need to improve on. I feel like Squats squats squats improve everything as an overall athlete. Since the volume and load of my squats have increased my oly lifts have increased. As for training, I feel like it is important to find friends that have the same goals and drive you do to help you push in metcons and things that aren't your strength. However, while working with a group of Crossfit is fun, I believe it is important to get to the gym and train by yourself every now and then. If you can go to the gym on your own in the middle of the hot day or extremely early in the morning or late nights it creates self discipline. It creates accountability. If you can find the drive and the will to push through tough workouts by yourself with no one else around, then when you are in a competitive environment with adrenaline the workout becomes a breeze. The ability to perform and do hard work or grind is important when no one is watching. Be addicted to success.
