Bio
I’ve always had a love for athletics, but it took me a little while to realize it was something I wanted to pursue full time. I grew up doing gymnastics, from about the age of 6 to 16. After that I bounced around between track and field, pole vaulting and competitive cheerleading. I took a little detour from competitive sports when I started college at the University of the Pacific in 2004. I spent a good amount of time “living life” and trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with mine. I studied Business with concentrations in marketing and entrepreneurship, joined a sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and studied abroad in London. It was an incredible experience to say the least. I trained at the gym and worked with a personal trainer to stay in shape, but it wasn’t until I graduated and moved to the Bay Area in 2008 that I found CrossFit and fell in love.

I spent two years doing CrossFit off and on and working at a job that was good, but I didn’t love. So in 2010 my best friend and I had a crazy idea, we decided to quit our jobs and move to Australia. I spent two years there. I worked, traveled and started competing in CrossFit. It was incredible. When I moved back to California in 2012 I decided to start coaching and qualified for the NorCal regionals. I’ve competed on a team for the past two years and I’ve learned a lot about myself. I’m extremely passionate about health and fitness and I now train full time and run a paleo blog, livinpaleocuisine.com. 2014 was a good year and I’m excited for 2015.

How I Train
I train about 3 hours a day 6 days a week. I follow the Barbell WOD for my strength training and I have a coach who programs my conditioning and skill work. One day a week I try to get in some active recovery, going for a run or getting in the pool, and I try to get together with my training partners as often as possible. The community, my friends and my teammates are what make this sport so much fun. Training with them pushes me and challenges me and gets me excited to train and compete. Recovery and proper nutrition are the other aspects of my training the play a huge roll and I spend a good amount of time mobilizing, stretching and cooking and I always make sure to have a protein shake, a protein bar or a FitAid on hand.
